WILDLIFE
Oyster Bayou Ranch is a duck hunters dream! Located in the coastal marshland of the Central Flyway, the ranch sees thousands of ducks during migratory months. The area is known for blue-winged teal, gadwall, wigeon, pintail, mottled ducks, shovelers, fulvous and black belly tree ducks, divers, and snow and specklebelly geese. It's common to shoot 5-7 species on each hunt. The ranch borders the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge which is home to an array of migratory and resident birds, particularly waterfowl. The property features top-quality duck hunting blinds strategically positioned across the ranch for an unparalleled hunting experience. The unique canal system allows for plenty of water and the capability to flood fields during waterfowl season. It has been deliberately and responsibly hunted to ensure success rates for years to come. This duck hunting haven was even mentioned in R.K. Sawyers famed A Hundred Years of Texas Waterfowl Hunting.
Known as the Alligator Capital of Texas, Anahuac is known for its large alligator population and the ranch is no exception. The state provides the ranch owners with 7 tags each year. In addition, state biologists work with the owners to retrieve and incubate alligator eggs.
