HUNTING, RECREATION, DE SOTO NATIONAL FOREST. JO80 is perfectly positioned to be an excellent hunting and recreational property. Located halfway between Laurel and Richton, this listing is adjacent to the 518,000-acre De Soto National Forest, known for its excellent hunting as well as hiking and horse-riding trails. This close proximity to the national forest adds more ways to enjoy outdoor activities. Utilities are available through Dixie Electric Power Association and J. P. Utility District for water.
The site is nearly 800 feet off lightly travelled Will Young Road and has an access road with a gated entrance. Because of its distance from the main road, JO80 is a very quiet, tranquil spot for a country retreat/hunting camp. The deeded access road into the property has been well maintained.
Used mainly as a hunting tract in the past, this site has some shooting houses and food plot areas in place. Mixed hardwood and pine timber and a gorgeous hollow add to the sites natural attractiveness. A small seasonal creek cuts across the eastern side of the tract. Area wildlife include whitetail deer, turkey, squirrel, and other small game typically found in South Mississippi. Winding trails and internal roads offer access throughout the site and opportunities for nature walks and four-wheeler riding. Interior roads and trails have recently been mulched making access throughout the site even better.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS. Nearby Laurel, MS offers unique shopping and restaurants, as well as the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art and the Veterans Memorial Museum.
