This property is located just west of Maple Lake and has been enrolled into and restored through the Wetland Reserve Program (WRP). The main habitat component is thick seclusion and wintering cattail cover. I hunt pheasants early but get cranking when the December winds blow, and I love hunting cover such as this, as it's simply where the birds want to be when it's cold. Historically, the property had multiple lateral ditches running through it. Many of these have been filled in as part of the restoration project, with the borrowed areas creating and leaving varying-sized open water areas (see the photos). The filled-in ditches have grown into taller willows and would take a little work and figuring out, but these, along with some fringe wooded areas, have the potential for stand locations.
