Within the 1,660+/- acres boundaries, an impressive canal system with boat houses and boat lanes leading to the southern 900+/- acres of private marsh with roost habitat and 700+ acres of cultivated land which can be farmed and irrigated with freshwater, flooded, or grazed by cattle. An almost endless system of drivable levees allows vehicle access to most areas of the preserve and many of the waterfowl blind and fishing locations.
Hunting:
The waterfowl hunting at Commissary Point is electric. Fifteen permanent blind locations are located strategically though out the preserve providing blind locations for all phases of the waterfowl season. Freshwater controls allow for irrigated fields with pit blinds on the northern half of the preserve; stilt and island boat blinds are located within the southern half, in the private marsh, with hard bottomed, wadable soil. Limits are typical on hunts at Commissary Point; the primary species include: mallards, teal, pintails, wigeon, gadwall, speckle belly geese and snow geese.
Whitetail deer, doves, and other birds and animals are commonly seen on the property.
