Sweetgrass Farm On Quam And Halleque Lakes

Welcome to Sweetgrass Farm! This amazing property is located between Brandon and Kensington and nestled between Quam and Halleque Lakes. There are approx. 2 miles of total lakeshore and almost endless possibilities and beauty.I’d like to stop for a second and make you aware of the interactive mapping option we have for this property (see the map at the top of the page and the Full Screen tab). Here, you can open specific photo icons, view the 360-degree panoramic view (red icons), and zoom in/out on the property. Please also play the video and click on the variety of photo and map tabs. It’s very difficult, if not impossible, to fully capture and explain everything about this property in words. When you go to the photos and finish viewing the drone pictures, I begin my series of ground pictures with the sunrise over Quam Lake, then move up to the pole building site, down to Halleque Lake or The Beach, South up to the large alfalfa food plot, East through Oak Hill, out to Waterfowl Point, through the CRP to the SE isolated food plot or The Thumb, along the shores of Quam Lake, around by Alfalfa camera (which is close to where the seller shot an absolute stud of a main frame 8 points that went over 160 inches), wind past the Apple Tree back to the pole building and out the driveway. We then go North to the northern CRP portion of the property and the outlet for Halleque Lake and finally end back at the shores of Quam Lake to see some largemouth bass.Speaking of the lakes! There is limited information as there is no established public access on either of them. The MN DNR does have an old lake map for Quam which states that it is around 14ft deep at its max and has northern and bullheads. I know there are more fish as I saw a decent-sized perch washed up on the shore and then, as mentioned, personally witnessed some largemouth bass. Local rumor is that there may have been some Walleye put in and also possible populations of Crappie. I can’t verify this at this time but the adjoining landowners have docks out and the seller states that there are some fish houses in the winter.Halleque Lake is assumed to be shallower than Quam and is primarily viewed as a waterfowl-hunting lake. However, the seller states that he has witnessed what he assumes may be spear houses closer to the outlet (which is on this property). So, there may be some fishing opportunities as well. One big feature, however, is the classic waterfowl point situated to accommodate multiple wind directions and setup needs. It's, again, hard to put all the details into writing, but here we are just reaching out as we would be happy to get you more information and/or discuss the specifics. The building is approx. just under 2,000 total square feet with the main cold storage area being approx. 48ft x 36ft with 10ft x 10ft roll-up doors on each end with an elevated loft/seating area with a sliding door to look out over the landscape. There is an approx. 8ft x 24ft insulated and heated area and the large covered concrete patio area that looks down and across the lake. Not only did I watch ducks flying over the lake from this location, but heard numerous roosters and was treated by listening to bugling elk from the elk farm to the NE. The shed has a newer 200amp electrical service and a newer (2021) 240ft drilled well. There are approximately 20 +/acres established in alfalfa food plots, which is key, and 58 +/acres in restored prairie through the CRP program, which pays just under $7,000 annually and will continue until Sept. 2030.On face value, this property is a tremendous opportunity to have a great hunting property and/or place to build your dream home but the sky is truly the limit. For example, the sellers hosted their daughter’s wedding in and around the building site so develop a picturesque wedding venue, retreat opportunities, and establish pasture areas for your horses or cattle, it would make an awesome winery location, develop some shoreline on either lake into lots and the list of possibilities goes on from there. Please give me a call, I’d love to set up a private showing of Sweetgrass Farm!
