The Goodwin Ranch is a South Texas combination hunting and cattle ranch. The brush diversity is good and the sandy loam brings on the best forbs for deer and quail. The ranch is cross-fenced in several pastures and has 2 sets of cattle pens.

The ranch is well watered with underground pipelines providing water to about 18 locations on the ranch. Water is supplied to the ranch via a reliable supply line maintained and operated by Zapata County Water Conservation District. There are also 4 stock tanks.

The owner has planted Live Oak and Monterrey Oak Trees. These trees are well-established due to the plentiful water piped throughout the ranch. There are also lots of big mesquite trees scattered across most of the property, as well as ebony trees in places.

The Goodwin Ranch has been in their family about 50 years. At the headquarters there is an older house with a unique fireplace in the middle of the room. There is also a 30x60-ft. metal barn and a barbecue area. Electrical power, water and natural gas are readily available.

The owner has put in a number of small food plots. There are also some cleared strips that were put in many years ago, leaving the big mesquite trees and planted in buffelgrass.

To get to the ranch, turn west off of Hwy 16 between Bustamante and Zapata, onto Jennings Ranch Rd for about 12 miles to the front gate.

The Goodwin Ranch is a very private and secluded property surrounded by fairly large neighboring ranches. The ranch is mostly square in shape with low fencing on two sides and high fencing on the other two sides.
