Solano County, California Land Market Insights

static location
The Solano County town of Dixon was established during California's mid-19th-century Gold Rush and later became home to a number of large dairy farms supplying milk and other dairy products to nearby San Francisco during the 1900s. In order to feed the valley's large dairy herds, fields in Solano and adjacent Yolo counties were put to use growing alfalfa and other cattle feed. Today, agriculture continues to drive a significant percentage of Solano County's economy, with major crops including walnuts, alfalfa and hay, cattle, and nursery products. Unsurprisingly given the county's location close to Napa and Sonoma, wine grapes are also becoming increasingly important to the local economy, as are connected businesses in wine production, storage and distribution. A total of almost 4,000 acres were listed for sale in Solano County recently; the overall value of all Solano County land and rural real estate for sale was $143 million. Solano County ranks 43rd out of 58 counties in the Land of Milk and Honey for the total acreage of land currently advertised for sale. Of all farms, ranches, and rural real estate for sale in Solano County, Vacaville featured the most land for sale. Solano County is California's 47th biggest county (906 square miles). It's located in the Central Valley California region of California.
